“Partnering with Special Olympics Nevada was a natural fit to support local athletes and our resident Christine McCullough who is representing Nevada in the World Games in Abu Dhabi,” said Desiree Van Leer, marketing manager of Olympia Companies, developer of Skye Canyon. “Helping an organization who helps others lead their best lives, on and off the field, resonates with Skye Canyon’s values.”

Christine McCullough, 46, joined Special Olympics in 1995 and has competed in track and field, basketball, golf, and bowling; she has won over a dozen medals. McCullough will compete in the track and field portion of the World Games that take place March 14-21.

The event is a part of Skye Canyon’s Skye Serves program designed to empower the community to support and serve through initiatives benefitting the nonprofits serving the Las Vegas Valley.

Special Olympics Nevada is celebrating 50 years of service by transforming the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities by providing year-round sports training and competition by replicating the Olympic Games.
