Skye Canyon’s third annual school supply drive benefitting Assistance League Las Vegas’ Operation School Bell program held July 15-22, 2019 generated donations valued at nearly $4,000, including a match by Skye Canyon. Each year, Operation School Bell gives more than 8,000 at-risk K-12 students in Clark County an opportunity to excel by providing much-needed school supplies and shoes. Research shows that kids who do not have sufficient school supplies are more likely to skip school, thereby decreasing their chances of success.
The school supply drive is a part of the award-winning master-planned community’s Skye Serves program that since its inception in 2016, has raised over $60,000 for 10 nonprofit organizations in Las Vegas.
Assistance League Las Vegas is an all-volunteer organization that has served the Las Vegas community for over 40 years. The nonprofit’s 400 members volunteer more than 48,000 hours per year to support local families with an emphasis on helping children in need. Operation School Bell is its signature program, allowing K-12 students to “shop” for brand new clothing and other items needed for school.
