LEE CANYON’S YOUTH ADVENTURE DAYS KICK OFF FRIDAY, JUNE 17

Lee Canyon’s Youth Adventure Days start Friday, June 17. The half-day activities sessions help kids learn about the Spring Mountains while hiking and participating in other summer activities that vary weekly. Participants develop adventure and outdoor stewardship skills like why it’s essential to pack out trash and the impact of graffiti, litter, and people hiking beyond marked trails. Registration is $49 per session, available online. Open to kids aged 7 to 12-years-old, sessions run every Friday through August from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children can attend one session or participate weekly. “Outdoor recreation has countless long-term benefits for people, especially kids. However, our ecosystem in the Spring Mountains is delicate. Through Youth Adventure Days, kids learn how to play in harmony with nature. They will also develop a sense of ownership by understanding their vital role in preserving the outdoors for future generations,” says John Lira, Lee Canyon’s manager of snowsports and mountain activities.

Youth Adventure Days will also cover skills like identifying plant life, such as the Bristlecone pine, the oldest living tree species. Kids will learn about wild horses, burros, and the Mt. Charleston Blue Butterfly. The resort has worked alongside environmental groups and experts to ensure the butterfly’s habitat for the future.

The Youth Adventure Days program is a part of Lee Canyon’s Play Forever commitment to creating more lifelong ambassadors for the outdoors. The resort’s summer season starts Friday, May 27, when it will be open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
