Case Study: The Meadows School

The Meadows School (TMS) is an accredited nonprofit, nonsectarian and independent college preparatory school serving pre-K to 12th grade students. Established in Las Vegas in 1984 by Carolyn Goodman, currently the city’s mayor, TMS’ mission is to develop a love and respect for learning in its students, inspiring them to seek knowledge independently while preparing them for higher academic pursuits. Boasting a 100 percent four-year college placement track record, TMS offers an 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and an environment that has produced both National Merit and Presidential Scholar recipients. TMS’ upper school was also named one of The Washington Post’s top five most challenging private high schools in the U.S. and the best school in Nevada. The school’s 40-acre campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including the Key Fechser Fitness Center and the Wanda Lamb Peccole Center for the Arts. Providing a diverse curriculum and activity roster, TMS offers 17 varsity sports; a variety of clubs focused on the arts, sciences, and service; and 24 Advanced Placement courses.
