LEE CANYON KICKS-OFF OFF A SUMMER SEASON FRIDAY, MAY 27

Lee Canyon’s summer season starts Friday, May 27. The resort will be open this summer Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests can also enjoy high-altitude adventures on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. Starting this weekend, Lee Canyon will offer axe throwing, scenic chair lift rides on the Bluebird Chair, and hiking on the nearby Bristlecone Trail. Hillside Lodge’s Brewin’ Burro coffee shop and the Bighorn Grill will be serving their summer menus. Other summer activities such as archery, disc golf, and skateboarding on Lee Canyon’s mini skate ramp will begin in the weeks ahead. More information is available at www.leecanyonlv.com

“This is a special summer season since we begin development on our downhill mountain bike park,” says Jim Seely, Lee Canyon’s director of marketing. “It’s exciting to see Las Vegas’ outdoor community grow and evolve and that we can continue to create experiences that help more people discover adventure in the Spring Mountains.”

Lee Canyon expects to open up three designated mountain bike trails by August. The downhill mountain bike park will offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced mountain biking terrain, including excavated and jump trails and single track. Lee Canyon will add more trails through fall 2022 and in 2023. There will be roughly 12 miles of downhill mountain bike trails at build-out.

A great escape from the desert heat, Lee Canyon can be up to 25 degrees cooler than the city since its base area is 8,510 feet, and cool mountain breezes roll off of Lee Peak, an elevation of 11,289 feet. The summer season runs through Labor Day. Parking is free and first-come, first-served.

Lee Canyon is dog-friendly; however, pet owners must keep dogs on a leash. A full schedule of summer activities is below and at www.leecanyonlv.com

HIKE

Hikers on the nearby Bristlecone Trail love a post-hike lunch or après-hike cocktail on the deck at Lee Canyon. The Bristlecone Trail offers hikers three options; the Upper Bristlecone is roughly 6.3-miles round-trip, and the Lower Bristlecone’s 5.5-mile out-and-back experience. The nature loop is about a mile for families with little ones or folks who want a short walk.

MINI SKATE RAMP

The “mini” skate ramp draws people of all ages and ability levels―the perfect place to learn or be inspired by seasoned skateboarders escaping the heat. There is no charge to use the skate ramp; skaters must bring their equipment.

SCENIC CHAIRLIFT RIDES

Chairlifts treat guests to bird’s eye views of the mountain. During the summer, the Sherwood chairlift whisks visitors from the base area for a ride above the trees to 9,310 feet. Chairlift riders can opt for a round-trip experience, exit the chairlift, and hike down to the base area.

Cost: $10 for adults | $6 for youth (ages 6 to 17)  | Military $8

Winter pass holders get one complimentary chairlift ride per day; must show a pass.
