Lee Canyon announces for the first time this season, its skate ramp will open Friday, July 31. The “mini” skate ramp draws people of all ages and ability levels though it is the perfect place for kids and adults to learn. During the heat of the summer, Lee Canyon’s mini ramp is a fun way for seasoned local skateboarders to spend an afternoon. The skate ramp is in the base area, and there is no charge to use it though skaters must bring their equipment. Lee Canyon is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
“Our skate ramp is a favorite among local kids. We are happy to welcome families back to have some fun, especially when temperatures in the valley make it unsafe to be outdoors,” says Jim Seely, Lee Canyon’s director of marketing. “We’d like to thank the Las Vegas community for abiding by our social distancing protocol making it possible for us to offer new activities.”
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Las Vegas this weekend, where temperatures near The Strip may reach 113 degrees. Lee Canyon’s base area is at 8,510 feet above sea level, and temperatures are expected to be in the high 70s Friday through Sunday, with overnight lows in the upper 50s. Cool mountain breezes will roll off of Lee Peak that stands 11,289 feet, so visitors should pack accordingly.

Scenic Chairlift Rides: The Sherwood chairlift whisks visitors from the base-area through the trees to an elevation of 9,310 feet. Scenic chairlift rides are the best way to get a bird’s eye views of the mountain. Chairlift riders can opt for a round-trip experience or if those with healthy knees can exit
and hike down to the base area. The last ride leaves at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for youth (age 6-17), and kids under 5 are free. Current winter season pass holders can present their pass to get a complimentary ride.
Disc Golf: Lee Canyon’s 18-hole disc golf course, rated No. 1 in the Las Vegas Valley, starts players at 9,310 feet in elevation before leading them to hike down the mountain to each hole. Players access the start of the course by riding the Sherwood chair, though some locals opt to tackle the roughly 40-minute uphill hike. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Season passes are $50, rental packages for $19 for adults and $14 for kids under 12 years old.
Archery Lanes: Lee Canyon opened its archery lanes in 2017, and since then, it’s become a local’s favorite. With an instructor alongside, but socially distant from the guest, people can test their aim using recreational bow and arrows. Lee Canyon provides all gear; outside archery equipment is not allowed. Archery is open to people age 9 and older; the cost for a 30-minute session is $19 per person.
ThenearbyBristlecone Trail offers hikers two options, the Upper Bristlecone that’s roughly 6.3-mile round-trip or the Lower Bristlecone’s 5.5-mile out-and-back experience.
